Welcome to Warrington U3A

Warrington U3A is part of a UK-wide movement that brings together people in their ‘third age’ to develop their interests and continue their learning in a friendly and informal environment. If you’re wondering what we mean by the third age, it isn’t defined by a particular age, but is a period in life after you have finished working full-time. We are one of over a thousand U3As across the UK, with thousands of interest groups between them and more than 425,000 members nationally.

It’s all voluntary. U3A members draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other. There are no exams to pass: it is all just for pleasure. Learning is for its own sake with enjoyment being the prime motive, not qualifications or awards. Warrington U3A has around 1200 members and is home to over sixty activity groups covering many different subjects, from Art to Ukulele and everything in between.

Our groups meet in or near the town centre wherever possible. Because of the range of our activities, some meet out of town but still, hopefully, with easy access by bus or with convenient parking. There are so many activities and new friends to make that it can be difficult to choose which group to join. Meetings are free or sometimes have a nominal charge for outside speakers or materials. Whether you wish to learn a new subject or brush up on an existing interest Warrington U3A is for you.

We meet on the first Wednesday of most months at 2pm at Winmarleigh House, Winmarleigh Street, Warrington for our regular monthly General Meeting, enjoying a variety of interesting speakers, sharing a tea or coffee afterwards and catching up with friends. New or prospective members are invited to attend this very sociable event where they can meet the leaders of the various groups and perhaps join any that interest them.
