Welcome
WELCOME TO LEIGH-ON-SEA U3A
The U3A is a learning organisation made up of independent groups run by their members. Members are normally retired or semi-retired from paid employment, and wish to use some of their leisure time to acquire new skills and help others to do the same. There are currently 700 U3As with over 200,000 members in this growing, dynamic organisation. To learn more about the U3A go to the national website www.u3a.org.uk
Leigh-on-Sea is 35 miles from London and to the west of Southend. Originally a fishing and boat building community, Leigh (Legra) was mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086. It is still a thriving and attractive place to live with its Old Town, beaches and two hundred acres of woods to explore.
Our U3A is growing and enthusiastic with over 130 members and study groups expanding monthly. We enjoy learning, socialising and having fun together. If you have a positive and creative approach to life and would like to help maintain a healthy mind and body, read on ....
WE MEET on the third Wednesday of the month when we have a varied programme of speakers. (See Events page) Doors open 2 for a 2.30pm start at St Aidan's Church Hall, The Fairway, Leigh-on-Sea. Annual subscription is £18 but if you would like to give us a try you are welcome to come along as a visitor to two meetings at £2 per visit.
OUR MOTTO IS FRIENDSHIP AND LEARNING
